Smashing Rules to Forge Futures: How AI Innovation is Redefining Invention
From Silicon Valley's patent frenzy to the USPTO's latest guidance, discover why breaking the mold is just the beginning for tech's boldest thinkers.

I definitely think you have to “break stuff to make stuff” when innovating with AI. Following the impulse to chase down a visionary idea to the ends of the earth and iterate can be really messy, and that’s ok.
Axios is a must-read for any tech CEO, and it’s my go-to source for how our culture and systems put the pieces back together when new inventions challenge existing structures.

According to Axios, while a robot can’t be an inventor (gotta have flesh and blood for that), “Guidance from the USPTO, issued in February, states that a person's use of an AI system does not necessarily preclude them from qualifying as the inventor in a patent application.”
And while it may not be the most interesting part of innovation, these granular details matter. Part of being an inventor is getting ahead of potential fallout so when the systems are re-configured, they work to support your ideas.
It’s probably not a surprise, but Silicon Valley is jumping on patents right now while tech companies continue to challenge the very idea of who owns what if AI made it. That’s smart.
Are you a “do it first, ask questions later” kind of person like me? How has that helped you with your big ideas?
